Jim Holmes

Humanitarian Vision

(The photographic documentation of worldwide humanitarian work)

Jim Holmes has spent 30 years specialising in documenting humanitarian work throughout the world especially the issues, needs, solutions and outcomes of the development process. His focus has always been the individuals and communities that are affected by these needs and the challenges they face before and within this process. He has worked in almost 60 countries throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia including collectively living in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia for over 20 years.

In 2024 Jim will reach out to UK teenagers and introduce them to a world that in many cases is beyond belief. His presentations can be flexible and are generated from years of travelling and working around the world. He has captivating experiences and stories to share. The topic that is currently the most popular is the one that highlights his work for international charities such as Oxfam, Save the Children and the United Nations.

He has worked in countries including Afghanistan, Mongolia, Indonesia, Laos and on subjects that include refugee issues, clean water, rural health services, landmine clearance and natural disasters such as the Indian Ocean tsunami in Indonesia.

Illustrated by the best of his portfolio Jim’s talks are passionate, professional and thought provoking. He is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and in addition to his photographic work he often lectures on geographical subjects.
